  Description

  On a shelf of level ground on a SW-facing slope. A large, subcircular, raised area (c. 75m ENE-WSW; c. 60m NNW-SSE) enclosed from NW-N-SE by a bank of earth and stone (Wth 5.3-5.7m; H 0.45-1.5m) and elsewhere by a scarp (H 1.4-2.15m) with an external fosse (Wth 6.1m; D 1m)at ENE. From WSW-W the outline of this fosse is marked by a berm (Wth 4-5m). A report in 1988 (SMR file) recorded a low outer bank at S, which is no longer visible. The original entrance is not recognisable.   Description

  In pasture on a very steep SE-facing slope of a ridge. Depicted as a fort, straddling the townland boundary, on a map of Ballymore that was surveyed in 1792 (NLI, MS 21 F. 40 (22)). The monument has been levelled and is not visible at ground level. However, a curving cropmark visible on an aerial photograph (SMR file) in Ballymore townland may mark its outline. Alternatively the cropmark may be that of the curving field boundary, now levelled, that is shown on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. Compiled by: Olive Alcock Date of upload: 26 November 2012

  Description

  On a rise in well-drained pasture. A low, circular, dome-shaped mound of earth and stone (diam. at base 8.9m; H 0.7m) enclosed by a low bank of earth and stone (Wth 4.3-4.4m; H 0.7-0.95m) with a wide, shallow internal fosse (Wth 5.2-6.7m; D 0.35-1m). In places the bank is revetted externally with low upright stones. A break (Wth 2.1m) in the bank at ENE may mark the original entrance. (O'Donovan 2003, 21) Compiled by: Patrick F.   Description

  On a low rise on a W-facing slope. A raised circular area (diam. 38m) defined by a scarp (H 2-2.3m) with a very wide deep intervening fosse (Wth 7.1-8.3m; D 1-1.3m) and an outer bank (Wth 5.8-6m; H 1.7-1.8m). A report in 1975 (SMR file) recorded that the original entrance was at SE. A possible souterrain (LF010-042002-) lies within the interior. Compiled by: Patrick F.   Description

  Within the N half of the interior of a rath (LF010-042001-). According to local information, a horse is said to have fallen into a 'cave' in the rath in the 1940s. A report in 1975 (SMR file) recorded a series of irregularly shaped depressions in the N half of the interior that may mark the site of a souterrain. Compiled by: Patrick F.   Description

  On a low rise in pasture. A raised circular area (diam. c. 26m) enclosed from NW-E-WSW by a low bank of earth and stone (Wth 5-5.4m; H 0.3-0.95m) and elsewhere defined by a scarp (H 1.9m)' with an external fosse (Wth 5.9-6.2m; D 0.4-0.95m) and a low outer bank (Wth 1.8-4m; H 0.4-1m), which has been modified and incorporated into a field boundary.   Description

  On a low rise in pasture. A raised subcircular area (43m N-S; 39m E-W) enclosed at N and from S-SSW-SW by a low bank of earth and stone (Wth 4m; H 0.6-0.7m) and elsewhere defined by a scarp (H 1.5-2m). A very shallow external fosse (Wth 5.1m; D 0.1m) is evident from S-SSW-SW. Elsewhere it has been infilled and its site is marked by a berm (Wth 2-3.2m).   Description

  On a terrace immediately above a stream to its S and SW. A raised circular area (diam. 39.5m) enclosed by a low bank of earth and stone (Wth 5-6m; H 0.3-0.9m), except from S-SW where it is defined by a scarp (H 2.5m). A shallow intervening fosse (Wth 2.5-3m; D 0.4m) is visible from S-W-NW and a low outer bank (Wth 2-3m; H 0.3-0.4m) is evident at S and from SW-W-WNW.   On a low knoll in pasture. Depicted as a circular enclosure with the designation 'Fort' on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. A raised circular area (diam. at base 15.5m) enclosed from SW-N-SE by a low bank of earth and stone (Wth 2.9-4.2m; H 0.7m) with a shallow internal fosse (Wth 3.6-4.4m; D 0.8m).
