  Description

  In level pasture, immediately NE of the Dooneen-Knockatagglebeg road. A circular area (c. 32m N-S) defined by a low earthen bank (Wth 9m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 0.12m). An NE-SW field boundary (H c. 1.6m) skirts the bank at SE. The interior is concave. A prostrate stone lies in the N quadrant. A road boundary abuts the bank tangentially along the SW arc. The rath is indicated on the 1846 OS 6-inch map as a roughly circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m).   Description

  In pasture, on a gentle NE-facing slope, to the E of the Dooneen-Knockatagglebeg road. This rath is levelled but the possible outline of a gently curving scarp is visible NW-E. The rath is indicated on the 1846 OS 6-inch map as a circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m) abutted by the NE-SW townland boundary along the SE arc. On the 1894 OS 6-inch map it is indicated as a D-shaped enclosure (dim. c. 20m NW-SE) abutting the townland boundary at SE (L 20m). A possible souterrain (KE058-047001-) is associated with the rath.   Description

  In a rath (KE058-047----). This possible souterrain is indicated on the 1894 OS 6-inch map, immediately inside the bank of the rath at N. It is probably the 'Cavern', mentioned in the 1840s as being in a rath in the north end of Cleedagh townland (OSNB, Kilcummin, no. 2, 8). There are no visible remains of this possible souterrain. • KE058-048 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  In pasture, on a level area, c. 50m W of the Gweestin River. This possible rath is not visible at ground level though there are slight undulations in the area. It is indicated as a circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m) on the 1846 OS 6-inch map. M. Connolly identified the low remains of a mound and ditch at this location during the course of an assessment of a 40 square mile area for the purpose of choosing a road route in 2000 to the north of Killarney. Further information is required from M. Connolly (i.e. copy of photo) to establish if the low remains are indeed that of the rath and this Inventory entry may then need an update. U.
