Description
On a slight NW-facing slope. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 29m N-S; 27.5m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 2.5-3m; int. H 0.1-0.3m; ext. H 0.5-01.1m) truncated slightly by a field wall at S and overlain by a field wall SW-N. There is no visible fosse or identifiable original entrance but lazy-beds occupy the interior. - RO047-011001 Ringfort - rath
Description
On a slight S-facing slope. Subcircular grass-covered area (dims 40m WNW-ESE; 33.6m NNE-SSW) defined by a grass-covered earth and stone bank (Wth 2.6-4m; int. H 0.2-0.3m; ext. H 0.3-0.9m) frequently reduced to a scarp (H 0.45m at WNW). There is no visible fosse or identifiable original entrance. A D-shaped enclosure or annexe (RO047-011002-) attached to the SE is visible as a low grass-covered platform (dims 25m E-W; at least 19m N-S) defined by a slight scarp (H 0.2m) NE-SW. The rath and annexe are bisected by a WNW-ESE field wall, but the annexe does not survive N of this feature. Rath (RO047-012001-) is c. 200m to the N and rath (RO047-040001-) is c. 140m to the SW. Description
On a slight S-facing slope. This is a D-shaped enclosure or annexe attached to the SE of rath (RO047-011001-) and is visible as a low grass-covered platform (dims 25m E-W; at least 19m N-S) defined by a slight scarp (H 0.2m) NE-SW. - RO047-012001 Ringfort - rath
Description
On a S-facing slope. Circular, slightly domed grass and scrub-covered area (diam. 39.6m WNW-ESE; 38.8m NNE-SSW) defined by a scrub-covered earthen bank (Wth 5.5m at ESE to 9.5m at WNW; int. H 0.65m; ext. H 1.45-1.55m) and a silted flat-bottomed outer fosse (at ESE: Wth of top 5.6m; Wth of base 2.8-3m; D 0.45m). The entrance (Wth 3.7m) and causeway (Wth 2.7m) are at SSE. A WNW-ESE field wall clips the outer edge of the fosse at SSW, and a field bank and hedge circumscribe the perimeter SW-NNE. Description
On a S-facing slope and at the centre of rath (RO047-012001-). Gannon (1972) describes a semi-rectangular moss-covered heap of stones as a possible structure. It is not present now, and is unlikely to be an antiquity. Also, given the undisturbed appearance of the monument it is unlikely to have been removed. Description
On a S-facing slope and inside the perimeter of rath (RO047-012001-) at NW. A semi-circular cairn is mentioned by Gannon (1972), but no longer survives. It is unlikely to be an antiquity. Description
On a gentle SE-facing slope. Circular grass-covered platform (diam. 30m NNW-SSE; 29m ENE-WSW) defined by a grass-covered earthen bank best preserved, although probalby renewed, NE-SSE (at ENE: Wth 4.3m; int. H 0.6m; ext. H 1.3m) and largely reduced to a scarp (at WSW: H 1.3m) elsewhere. There are slight traces of an outer fosse (Wth of base 1.3m) NNE-ENE and an entrance (Wth 2m) at NE. On a slight rise in an undulating landscape. Circular grass-covered area (int. diam. 21.8m NNW-SSE; 20.9m ENE-WSW) defined by a partly grass-covered wall footing with facing-stones (Wth of wall: 1.25-1.55m; ext.
