  Description

  Visible as a circular feature (diam. c. 30m) on aerial photograph (GSIAP: M 153-4), and situated towards the bottom of a NE-facing slope of Moydow Hill. Circular grass-covered area (int. diam. 32.7m NW-SE; ext. diam. 36.4m NW-SE) defined by a grass-covered stone spread with inner and outer facing-stones visible (original Wth 1.7-1.9m; H up to 0.85m) WNW-E-S. The perimeter does not survive elsewhere and there is no identifiable original entrance, but there is a house site (RO042-019002-) (ext. dims 10.3m N-S; 10.3m) defined by a grass-covered earth and stone spread, with an entrance at the SE corner just outside the cashel at NW.   Description

  Towards the bottom of a NE-facing slope of Moydow Hill. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 31.1m NNE-SSW; 28.7m WNW-ESE) defined by an earth and stone bank (at SSW: Wth 3.2m; int. H 0.75m; ext. H 0.4m) E-S-N and by a scarp (H 1m) elsewhere. There is no visible fosse or identifiable original entrance, but a grass-covered trench (Wth c. 5m; D c. 0.5m) crosses the interior E-W.   Description

  On a gentle NE-facing slope. Described as a circular area (diam. 32.5m N-S; 30.5m E-W) defined by an earthen bank, which is incorporated into a field bank NW-NE, but with no visible fosse or recognisable entrance (Gannon 1972).   Description

  On a gentle SE-facing slope. Circular grass-covered area with some bushes (diam. 27.5m ENE-WSW) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 5.4-6m; int. H 0.3-0.75m; ext. H 1.2-1.25m). This is separated by a berm (Wth 10.5-14.4m) from an earthen bank (Wth 5-5.6m; int. H 0.85-2.3m; ext. H 2.2-2.75m) which is separated by a fosse (Wth of top 6.4-7m; Wth of base 2-3.8m; ext. D 1-1.35m) from a third bank (Wth 1.7-2.4m; ext. H 0.3-0.6m), which is missing ESE-SSW (max. ext. diam. 80m ENE-WSW). There is an entrance through the inner (Wth 2.8m) and central (Wth 1.7m) banks, and a causeway across the fosse, at SE. Rath (RO042-049001-) is c. 170m to the SE.   On a gentle SE-facing slope. Subcircular grass-covered area (dims 39.6m NNW-SSE; 34.7m ENE-WSW) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 3.6-4.4m; int. H 0.7-0.95m; ext. H 1.05-2m) and fosse (at ENE: Wth of top 4.4m; Wth of base 1.8m; ext. D 0.3-0.4m). There is no recognisable entrance. Aerial photograph (CUCAP: BDU 72) shows a subcircular enclosure or annexe (RO042-049002-) (diam. 23m N-S) defined by an earthen bank attached to the NW with an entrance (Wth 3m) at NE (Gannon 1972), but this does not survive.   Towards the bottom of a gentle NE-facing slope of Moydow Hill. This is a D-shaped grass-covered area (dims 63.5m ENE-WSW; 56.5m NNW-SSE) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 3.4-4.1m; int. H 0.95m; ext. H 0.75-1.15m) with the straight side at NW. There is no visible fosse or identifiable original entrance. Rath (RO042-051----) is c. 175m to the WSW and rath (RO042-025----) is c. 200m to the NW. • RO042-162 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  On a gentle E-facing slope of a broad NW-SE spur. Subcircular grass and fern-covered area (dims 66m NW-SE; 56.3m NE-SW) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 2.6-5m; int. H 0.4-0.7m; ext. H 0.2-0.8m) which is incorporated into a field wall W-NNW but absent NNW-NNE (L 11m). There is no visible fosse and there are entrances at S (Wth 2.5m) and WSW (Wth 7.4m), but the original entrance (Wth 4.8m), marked by stones at either side, is at E. There is a quarry (diam. c. 10m; D c. 0.4m) at the centre, and this is overlain by a NW-SE field wall and hedge which bisects the interior. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
