  Description

  Situated on a gentle N-facing slope in rolling pastureland. Depicted as a small circular enclosure on both the 1st and 2nd ed. OS 6-inch maps. The site has been levelled but is visible as a roughly circular area (diam. 18m N-S; 21.8m E-W) delimited by the faint remains of a fosse (Wth 2.3-3.5m). The interior slopes slightly to the W. Field boundaries run close to the E and N sectors. The site was inspected in 1958 and classified as a ringfort (OPW files).   Description

  Situated on a gradual N-facing slope in pasture. Not indicated on the 1st ed. (1841) OS 6-inch map but shown as a circular enclosure on the latest ed. The site has been levelled but is still visible as a roughly circular area (diam. c. 23.4m N-S; 25.5m E-W) defined by a poorly preserved bank (int. H 0.4m; ext. H 0.18m). A dip around the exterior indicates a possible fosse and there is a possible outer bank visible at W. The site was inspected in 1958 and classified as a ringfort (OPW files). • TN027-067 Castle - unclassified
  Description

  Situated at the base of a N-facing slope on level ground. According to the Civil Survey (1654-6) there 'standeth a stumpe of a Castle' in Monaquill (Simington 1934, vol. 2, 235). However, according to family tradition the castle was located in a grove of trees c. 30m W of the house and stone from the castle and earlier house were used when the present nineteenth-century house was constructed. No early stonework is visible in the present house or in the surrounding walls and farm buildings. No visible trace of the castle at ground level. • TN027-068 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Situated on a break in the NW-facing slope of a hill. This site is bisected by a field boundary and only the W half survives (as indicated on the latest ed. OS 6-inch map). The E half has been levelled with no visible trace at ground level. The W half consists of a raised area (diam. 27m NW-SE; 16m NE-SW) enclosed by a bank largely reduced to a scarp, best preserved upslope in the SE quadrant (Wth 2.5m; int. H 0.74m; ext. H 0.5m).
