  Description

  Situated on a gentle NE-facing slope overlooking steeper terrain. A wall (L 5m; max. H 2m) beside a farmyard is believed locally to be the restored W wall of the chapel. An associated well (WI020-019----) lies 250m to the NE and part of a farm building 20m NNE of the well is believed locally to be the remnants of a grange. • WI020-019 Ritual site - holy well
  Description

  Situated on level, low-lying swampy ground with higher ground to the N, W and S and a gentle downhill slope to the E; 250m NE of Rampere chapel site (WI020-018----). Strong spring now contained within a concrete shaft. The Patron day was on the 20th of August until the 1930s when it was closed after a faction fight.   Description

  Situated on a gentle N-facing slope. Circular area (diam. c. 30m) marked on both the 1838 and 1907 OS 6-inch maps, but since then completely levelled. Not visible at ground level, but visible on aerial photograph (CUCAP, BDR 43).   Description

  Situated at a break in a NE-facing slope. Circular area (diam. 41m) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 7.3m; max. H 2m) and a poorly defined external fosse (Wth 4m). About one-third of site has been removed at the W beside the road. No indication of an entrance or internal features. • WI021-085 Fulacht fia
  Description

  On low-lying ground c. 30m S of Rampere Stream. Discovered in 2005 during archaeological monitoring (Excavation Licence 05E0404) associated with the extension of the landfill site (Phelan 2008, 420). Excavation (Excavation Licence 05E0472) uncovered a burnt mound under which lay two troughs and three postholes. A radiocarbon date of 1607–1570 cal BC was obtained for this monument. The N part of the site was preserved in situ. A burnt mound (WI021-086----) was discovered c. 50m to the SW. (McQuade 2008, 420) Compiled by: Claire Breen Date of upload: 6 December 2012

• WI021-086 Burnt mound
  Description

  On low-lying ground c. 50m S of Rampere Stream. Discovered in 2005 during archaeological monitoring (Excavation Licence 05E0404) associated with the extension of the landfill site (Phelan 2008, 420). Excavation (Excavation Licence 05E0472) uncovered a roughly circular spread of burnt material (diam. 6m, D 0.05m - 0.25m). A number of pieces of struck flint were recovered.   Description

  Situated on the level marshy floor of a stream valley. Quadrangular enclosure (max. int. dims. 42m N-S; 42-48m E-W), largely levelled but defined by a bank (Wth 2m), an external fosse (Wth 5m) and an outer bank (Wth 2m) surviving as cropmarks, visible on aerial photograph (CUCAP, BDR 42). The entrance (Wth 4m) is at the centre of the E side adjacent to the stream.
