Permission for works to uprate approximately 35.7km of the overall 35.82km of the existing Athlone to Lanesboro 110 kV overhead line (OHL) circuit located within the administrative boundary within County Roscommon. The proposed development will consist of: • Replacement (“restringing”) and uprating of the conductor along the existing Athlone-Lanesboro 110 kV OHL circuit; • Provision of fibre communication connection on the uprated circuit; • Replacement of 155No. Intermediate Wooden Polesets (IMPs), with similar structures, including poleset stays at 32No. IMPs. The change in structures will result in standardised heights from 16m to 23m along the circuit, the majority of height increases will be between 0.1m and 2.0m (at 125 No. IMPs), with the remainder between 2.1m and 3.7m, and a 4.0m height increase at only one IMP. 3no. IMP replacements will not result in a height change; • Replacement of 25No. Intermediate Wooden Poleset crossarms; • Replacement of 1No. steel angle mast, the replacement structure will result in a height increase of 0.5m; • Foundation strengthening of 9No. steel angle masts, and 1No. end mast; • Bar member replacements to 12No. steel angle masts and 1No. end mast; and, •All associated development including insulator/hardware replacement (suspension clamps and vibration dampers), replacement of signage, painting of angle masts, replacement/installation of anticlimbing guards, access tracks, vegetation clearance, temporary construction compounds and all other works necessary to facilitate the development. Description
Marked as a circular feature on the 1837 (diam. c. 40m) and 1915 (diam. c. 50m) eds of the OS 6-inch map, and situated on a SE-facing slope. Description
Marked as an oval embanked enclosure (ext. dims c. 25m E-W; c. 20m N-S) on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map and as a circular hachured feature (ext. diam. c. 40m) on the 1915 ed., it is situated towards the bottom of an E-facing slope. This is a circular grass-covered platform (diam. c. 22.5m NNE-SSW; c. 21m WNW-ESE) defined by a slight scarp (H c. 0.2m). Description
Towards the bottom of a NE-facing slope. Circular grass and spoil-covered area (diam. 26.5m WNW-ESE; 24.2m NNE-SSW) defined by a poached earthen bank with some bushes (Wth 3.3-3.9m; int. H 0.2-0.4m; ext. H 0.4-0.65m), and an outer fosse (at WNW: Wth of top 4m; Wth of base 1.6m; D 0.3m) WSW-NNE. There is an entrance (Wth 4.5m) at ESE. Rath (RO045-147----) is c. 80m to the WNW. Description
Marked as a circular embanked enclosure (ext. diam. c. 35-40m) only on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, and situated on a gentle S-facing slope. This is a circular grass-covered area (diam. 32.5m NW-SE; 29.8m NE-SW) defined by a slight scarp. A NE-SW field wall and townland boundary with Cartron cuts the monument NW of the centre. Description

Description
Marked on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map as a D-shaped embanked enclosure (ext. dims c. 35m NW-SE; c. 35m NE-SW) with the straight side at the NE and on the 1915 ed. as a circular feature (diam. c. 35m). Situated just off the NE-facing crest of a NE-facing slope. An arc of a overgrown platform survives NE-S (C 27m) defined by a scarp (H 1.35m).
