- RO021-042020 Barrow - ring-barrow
Description
Marked only on the 1929 ed. of the OS 6-inch map as a curved field bank S-W, and situated on a knoll just off the N-facing crest of a WNW-ESE ridge. D-shaped grass-covered mound (dims 6.6m N-S; 5.3m E-W; H 0.2-0.4m) separated by a flat-bottomed fosse (at W: Wth of top 4.6m; Wth of base 2.5m; D 0.4m; at N: Wth of top 7.5m; Wth of base 4.2m; D 0.2m) from an outer bank (Wth 3-4m; ext. H 0.5m at N to 0.9m at W) S-W-N. The monument is truncated by a NNE-SSW field bank at E (max. ext. dim. 24.6m N-S), which is the W bank of the roadway (RO021-042014-) located c. 800m to the NE and which can only be seen between the two locations in dry weather when the banks are visible as parch marks. - RO021-042021 Barrow - mound barrow
Description
At the highest point of a WNW-ESE ridge. Traditionally this is the burial place of Ceat Mac Magach, one of Queen Meave's warriors, or of Cairbre Cinn Ceat, a Fir Bolg king (Gormley 1989, 17). Circular grass-covered earthen mound (diam. 8m E-W; 7.4m N-S; H 1.2-1.7m) which has been revetted with stones (H 0.8m) N-SE. It is situated on a subrectangular grass-covered platform (dims 11.5m E-W; c. 14m N-S) defined by a scarp (H 0.8m) at N and E (H c. 0.2m), but merging into the ground elsewhere, and which may indicate the boundary of land reclaimation. Barrow (RO021-042020-) is c. 210m to the N, fulacht fia (RO021-042022-) is c. 100m to the SE, and the barrow is surrounded by the field system (RO021-042023-). Description
Just S of the crest of a WNW-ESE ridge. Kidney-shaped stony mound with a grass-covered clay mantle (dims 15m NE-SW; c. 8m NW-SE; H 0.5-0.8m) which is open to the SE (dims 5.4m NE-SW; 1m NW-SE). Barrow (RO021-042021-) is c. 100m to the NW. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010

Description
On the summit of a WNW-ESE ridge, S and SE of barrow (RO021-042021-). Described in 1983 as field banks covering c. 6 ha (c. 15 acres), the low grass-covered banks forming small but regular fields (dims c. 100m x c. 100m) with some indications of a roadway and a possible house site (SMR file), which is the fulacht fia (RO021-042022-). - RO021-042024 Ringfort - rath
Description
At the N-facing crest of a WNW-ESE ridge. D-shaped grass-covered area (dims 27.3m NNE-SSW; 27.4m WNW-ESE) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 3.3m; int. H 0.3m; ext. H 0.7m) N-E reduced to a scarp (H 0.6-0.8m) elsewhere, and a fosse (Wth of base 2-3.1m; D 0.1-0.8m) which is surrounded by field banks (Wth 2.2-2.7m; H 0.4-0.7m). The straight sides are at S and W. There is no identifiable original entrance, but there is a rectangular house site (RO021-042045-) (ext. dims 10m E-W; 3m N-S) of two rooms inside the perimeter at S, and a depression (dims 5.7m N-S; 2m E-W; D 0.6m) inside the bank at W with a spur to the E (dim. 2m E-W) at its S end which may be a souterrain (RO021-042025-). Description
On the crest of the N-facing slope of a WNW-ESE ridge. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 28.3m E-W; 27.1m N-S) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 2.5m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 0.9m) and traces of an outer fosse (Wth of base 1.5m; D 0.5m) W-NNE, and by a scarp (H 0.2-0.4m) elsewhere. There is no identifiable original entrance. Description
On the S-facing slope of a WNW-ESE ridge. Circular grass-covered platform (diam. 21.8m N-S; 20m E-W) which remains unplanted in a coniferous forest, defined by a scarp (H 1m at S to 2.2m at W) separated by a berm (Wth 4-5m) from an outer bank (Wth 2.6m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 0.4m) S-NW which is incorporated into a field bank NW-E. A dip in the perimeter of the mound at S may be an entrance (max. ext. diam. c. 40m). Description
Visible on aerial photographs (ACAP: V206/8,9), and situated on the S-facing slope of a WNW-ESE ridge. Rectangular grass-covered area (dims c. 80m E-W; c. 70m N-S) defined by a flat-topped earthen bank (at N: Wth of base 3m; Wth of top 1.4m; int. H 0.3m; ext. H 0.6m) and outer fosse (at N: Wth of base 2.8m; D 0.3m) at N and at the E end of the S side, but the perimeter elsewhere has been removed. Just outside the NE angle there is a house site (RO021-042047-) (ext. dims 6.8m E-W; 4.6m N-S) defined by an earthen bank (Wth c. 1.6m; H 0.3m) with an entrance on each long wall. Description
At the crest of the N-facing slope of a WNW-ESE ridge. D-shaped grass-covered area (dims 48.5m N-S; 21m E-W) defined by a scarp (H 0.5m) S-W-N, with a fosse (Wth of top 5.2m; Wth of base 3m; D 0.3m) W-NW. There is no identifiable original entrance, and it is cut at E by a field bank of field system (RO021-042046-). Souterrain (RO021-042044-) is in the interior. Description
At the crest of the N-facing slope of a WNW-ESE ridge, in the interior of rath (RO021-042043-). A collapsed souterrain is visible as a group of interconnected hollows with stones from the side-walls occasionally visible. An oval hollow (dims 8m E-W; 5m N-S; D 0.8m) close to the centre of the rath has a rectangular hollow (dims 7m N-S; 4m E-W; D 0.5m) running S from its centre with a constriction at its S end. This constriction leads into the E end of a hollow (dims 10m E-W; 3.5m N-S; D 0.4m) which has an oval hollow (dims 5.6m N-S; 4.3m E-W; max. D 0.7-1m) attached to the N side of its W end. Description
At the crest of the N-facing slope of a WNW-ESE ridge. Rectilinear field system covering c. 4 ha (c. 10 acres) defined by low banks (Wth c. 3m; H 0.2m) consisting of large fields running E-W (dims c. 100m E-W; c. 50m N-S). A rectangular enclosure (RO021-042029-) is integral to the fields. It is visible as a rectangular grass-covered area (dims 16.5m N-S; 13.6m E-W) defined by slight earthen banks (Wth 2-3m; H 0.1m), with traces of an outer fosse (Wth 4m) at E.
